Santa Casa de Saude
Santa Casa de Saude is an important project facilitated by Clara Shinobu Iura. Since 1999, she has helped direct Céu do Mapiás holistic healing center, Santa Casa de Saúde (Holy House of Health) in conjunction with Padrinho Manoel Corrente and Maria Alice Ferreira. Born in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She studied philosophy in the University of Sao Paulo as well as Macrobiotics. Through her experiences in the practice of Umbanda, meditation, and Santo Daime, she developed the skills of clairvoyance and mediumship which are utilized in her healing work. Clara is also a member of the International Council of the Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers who represent “a global alliance of prayer, education and healing for our Mother Earth, all Her inhabitants, all the children, and for the next seven generations to come”.
Santa Casa de Saude is the only medical facility available in the region along the Puruse river, and it serves many hundreds of people who live in extreme poverty with little or no access to medical help. It employs a combination of western, indigenous, and spiritual approaches to wellness and recovery from illness. Santa Casa offers preventive dental care as well as treatment for endemic diseases of this tropical region such as malaria, hepatitis, leishmaniose, and many types of verminosis.
Clara is now working to create a center for the healing of addictions in Mapia and is asking for our help with the purchase of a building, furniture, and equipment.
Your generosity will also help to provide medical equipment and an "ambulance" boat equipped for emergency treatments, netting for mosquito/malaria protection, first aid, preventative care, and health education for those in crisis and need in the region.
